Job Description

Experience: Must have 3-4 years of hands-on experience;
Location: Slough.


USS Technologies is looking for a Database Consultant with 3-4 years of hands-on experience. Experience must be in database management systems (DBMS), such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Knowledge of database design and administration principles. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database problems. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Tasks

  • Backup Management Backups/Recovery jobs.
  • Monitoring Software and Hardware.
  • Performing Scheduled Backups and On-Demand Backup requests.
  • Backup troubleshooting on failures and slowness issue.
  • New Server, VM, SQL, Oracle, NDMP, Agent based backup configuration and removal as per request.
  • Performing critical and normal restores as per requests.
  • Participating in audits for successful backups and failure backups.

Requirements

  • Collaborate with the offshore team to ensure effective coordination and communication throughout the testing process.
  • Backup Strategy Development:Design and implement comprehensive backup strategies for different types of data (databases, files, applications) to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Extensively knowledge in database technologies
  • Backup Implementation:Deploy and configure backup solutions, including backup software, hardware, and cloud-based services.
  • Schedule and monitor regular backups according to established policies and business requirements.
  • Recovery Planning and Testing:Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure a prompt and effective response to data loss incidents.
  • Conduct regular recovery drills and tests to validate the effectiveness of backup and recovery procedures.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance:Monitor backup and recovery systems for performance, errors, and compliance with established policies.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:Investigate and resolve issues related to backup failures, data corruption, and recovery challenges.
  • Security and Compliance:Implement and enforce security measures to protectbackup data against unauthorized access or data breaches.
  • Documentation:Maintain comprehensive documentation of backup and recovery procedures, configurations, and system architectures.
  • Good communication, takes ownerships on technical issues and a great team player.
  • Update documentation regularly to reflect changes in the backup environment
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data usage patterns and forecast future storage needs.
